Aaron Finch: “Shaheen Shah Afridi can tear a batting line-up apart when he gets it right”

Former Australia batsman Aaron Finch has acknowledged how good Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi is, saying he can “tear a batting line-up apart when he gets it right”.
Afridi is Pakistan’s pace spearhead across all three formats and earned a reputation as one of the world’s premier new-ball bowlers for his ability to strike early and take wickets in the first over.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi can tear a batting line-up apart when he gets it right,” Finch said in a video posted by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi recently took part in the 2026 T20 World Cup and claimed eight wickets in five matches at an average of 22.37 and an economy rate of 10.52.
He then proceeded to captain the men in green in their three-match ODI series against Bangladesh and took four wickets at an average of 28.
Afridi then led the Lahore Qalandars in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and picked up 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 18.18 and an economy rate of 7.86.
The 26-year-old is now set to play for Pakistan in their two-Test series against Bangladesh, which will be held in Mirpur and Sylhet from May 8 to 20.
