Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Atiq-uz-Zaman has heaped praise on Mohammad Nawaz for his incredible transformation, saying he “looks like a different player.”
Nawaz has evolved into a key member of Pakistan’s limited overs setup, contributing consistently in both ODIs and T20Is. His ability to deliver breakthroughs with the ball and play crucial cameos with the bat has made him an invaluable asset to the side.
Atiq, in particular, highlighted the 32-year-old’s improvement as a batsman, noting how Nawaz has added depth and stability to Pakistan’s lower order by producing valuable runs in pressure situations.
“I think Nawaz looks like a different player. In batting, he comes and score on key situations 20 or 30 not out, this is very good,” he told PakPassion.
Nawaz represented Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup and took seven wickets in seven matches at an average of 22.28 and an economy rate of 7.80.
He also scored 15 runs at an average of three and a strike-rate of 50.
Pakistan then took on Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series, but Nawaz was not included in the team.
He is now playing for the Multan Sultans in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has claimed five wickets in five games at an average of 26.40 and an economy rate of 11.
Batting-wise, he has mustered eight runs in two innings.
