Sahibzada Farhan: “It’s a matter of great pride to play Test matches for Pakistan… I have a good first-class average of 44. If the need arises, I am ready”

Pakistan opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan has declared that he is ready to take the next step in his career and play Test cricket.
Farhan has only represented his country in T20Is to date, but his strong record in first-class cricket makes a compelling case for his selection in the longest format.
In 63 first-class games, the 29-year-old has scored 4,796 runs, which includes 10 centuries and 29 fifties, at an average of 44.82.
“It’s a matter of great pride to play Test matches for Pakistan… I have a good first-class average of 44. If the need arises, I am ready,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Farhan recently featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Australia, but only managed to make five runs in two games at an average of 2.50.
He is now playing in the 2026 T20 World Cup and began by scoring 47 runs in Pakistan’s three-wicket win over the Netherlands.
Pakistan’s next match will be against the United States of America on February 10 in Colombo.
