Salman Ali Agha: “Hasan Nawaz is not here [with the team], but I have faith that he will soon come back”

Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha is confident big-hitting batsman Hasan Nawaz will return to the national team soon.
Nawaz was dropped from the side for Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in November 2025 and missed the subsequent T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
He was also overlooked for the tour of Sri Lanka, which consisted of three T20Is, and the three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore.
Despite having fallen out of favour with the selectors after showing immense potential, Salman expressed optimism that Nawaz’s absence from the team will be a short one.
“Hasan Nawaz is not here [with the team], but I have faith that he will soon come back,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Most recently, Nawaz was in action in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he played for the Chattogram Royals.
In eight matches, the 23-year-old scored 185 runs at an average of 26.42 and a strike-rate of 106.32.
He also took three wickets at an average of 12 and an economy rate of 7.20.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be the 2026 T20 World Cup, with their first game coming against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo.
