Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has showered praise on wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan for his incredible consistency in the 50-over format.

Afridi noted that the 33-year-old has been Pakistan’s “top scorer in one-dayers since 2023”, making him such a reliable asset.

During Pakistan’s home series against South Africa, Rizwan struck 91 runs in the three-match ODI series, which included a top score of 55, at an average of 45.50.

He did even better against Sri Lanka, making 117 runs in three ODIs, which included two half-centuries, at an average of 117.

“As far as Rizwan is concerned, he is Pakistan’s top scorer in one-dayers since 2023,” Afridi was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Rizwan missed Pakistan’s recent T20I tour of Sri Lanka, but did play in the Big Bash League (BBL), where he amassed 187 runs in 10 matches for the Melbourne Renegades at an average of 18.70 and a strike-rate of 102.74.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore from January 29 to February 1, but Rizwan did not make it in the squad that was announced.
