T20I captain Salman Ali Agha thinks Hasan Nawaz is the man who can become “Pakistan’s next big match-winner”.

Nawaz has already showcased his power-hitting abilities on numerous occasions – both at the domestic level and in international cricket.

Salman added that the 23-year-old is a “generational talent”, but stressed the need for him to stay focused and keep improving his game.

“He’s a generational talent who just needs to maintain focus to become Pakistan’s next big match-winner,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Hasan already has a T20I century to his name, which he made against New Zealand, and started his ODI career in style as he smashed an unbeaten 63 against the West Indies on debut.

However, his form has taken a turn for the worse as of late as during the 2025 Asia Cup, he only scored 17 runs in three matches at an average of 5.66 and a strike-rate of 65.38.

During the home series against South Africa, he didn’t fare any better in the three-match T20I series, mustering eight runs at an average of four and a strike-rate of 66.66.

In the ODIs that followed, he made one run in the one match he played.

Hasan was subsequently dropped for the ongoing three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and the upcoming T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, which will take place from November 18 to 29.
