Renowned fast bowling coach Ian Pont expressed sympathy for Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf as he is constantly being criticised.

Rauf has been lambasted for leaking too many runs when bowling in both ODIs and T20Is.

Recently, he played in the 2025 Asia Cup and picked up nine wickets in five matches at an average of 18.33 and an economy rate of nine.

Pakistan then played a home series against South Africa, but Rauf only featured in one ODI, where he conceded 17 runs off three overs.

Considering the number of wickets the 32-year-old takes and the fact that he regularly bowls at the death, Pont feels that some of the criticism being directed at him is unwarranted.

“I actually feel sorry for Haris Rauf,” he told PakPassion.

Pakistan are now facing Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series, where Rauf started off on a high as he claimed four wickets in the first match.

After the ODI series, Pakistan will take part in a T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe between November 17 and 29.
