Former England cricketer Monty Panesar believes mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed is a “huge asset” for Pakistan as he “bowls with tremendous courage” and takes “big wickets.”
Abrar has become a key member of the national team, especially in limited overs cricket, where he has established himself as the go-to spinner.
The 27-year-old was recently in action in Pakistan’s white-ball series against South Africa and did a phenomenal job with the ball.
In the three-match T20I series, he took two wickets in two games at an average of 34 and an economy rate of 8.50.
Three ODIs followed and Abrar finished with seven wickets in two matches at an average of 11.42.
“Abrar bowls with tremendous courage. Some deliveries go for boundaries, but others take big wickets. He’s a huge asset and Pakistan must build a settled squad around talents like him,” Panesar told PakPassion.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka from November 11 to 15.
After that, they will take part in a T20I tri-series alongside Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
