Former Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has been highly impressed with spinner Mohammad Nawaz as he is showing he belongs in the national team.

Nawaz has enjoyed great success with both the bat and ball as of late, and Misbah pointed out that the 31-year-old has become one of the main bowlers in the squad.

Pakistan are currently taking on South Africa, but Nawaz did not feature in the two-Test series.

He did, however, play in the three-match T20I series and claimed four wickets at an average of 20.75 and an economy rate of 7.54.

As for the three ODIs that are currently taking place, the Rawalpindi native has picked up one wicket in two games at an average of 82.

“Nawaz is our main bowler, a top-class bowler,” Misbah was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa is tied at 1-1 going into the 3rd ODI on November 8 in Faisalabad.

Once their series against the Proteas concludes, Pakistan will play a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka from November 11 to 15, before participating in a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
