Pakistan bowling coach Ashley Noffke confirmed left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi is working on improving his out-swingers and in-swingers.
Afridi is renowned for his ability to swing the ball, a talent that has frequently gotten him wickets in the first over of a match.
Noffke revealed the 25-year-old is particularly focusing on swinging the ball back into right-handed batsmen as it is one of the skills that makes him so lethal.
“Swing depends on the environment… That doesn’t happen every game, but we want Shaheen to keep working on it – whether it’s bringing the ball in or taking it away. When he attacks the stumps, especially swinging it into right-handers, he’s very dangerous. He’s been focusing heavily on that,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Afridi recently featured in the 2025 Asia Cup, where he finished as Pakistan’s top wicket-taker with 10 wickets in seven matches at an average of 16.40 and an economy rate of 6.60.
He then played in the two-Test series against South Africa, picking up five wickets at an average of 28.60.
The men in green and the Proteas are now involved in a three-match T20I series, which South Africa lead 1-0.
In the 1st T20I, Afridi recorded figures of 1-45 off his four overs.
Following the T20Is, Pakistan and South Africa will play three ODIs between November 4 and 8.
After that, Pakistan will go up against Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series from November 11 to 15, before competing in a T20I tri-series alongside Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
