Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has admitted that former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq was never given “the respect he deserved”.

Razzaq is considered to be one of the best all-rounders Pakistan has ever produced as he had the ability to score quick runs with the bat, while also taking key wickets with the ball.

In addition to the 45-year-old, Akhtar acknowledged that Azhar Mahmood, another all-rounder, failed to receive “the recognition he earned”.

“We never gave him the respect he deserved, just like we didn’t give Azhar Mahmood the recognition he earned,” the Rawalpindi Express was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Pakistan team recently took part in the 2025 Asia Cup, where they managed to make it to the final before losing to India by five wickets.

The men in green will be back in action soon as they will host South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs, which will take place from October 12 to November 8.
