Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has pointed out that every cricketer goes through tough times, but is confident that he will get back in form in the near future.

Azam has struggled to score runs consistently for numerous months, which has led to him being hit with a torrent of criticism.

While the 30-year-old admitted that his bad run of form has lasted for quite some time, he made it clear that he is working hard to try and make big scores again.

“Every player experiences such times, and this time it’s a bit longer. My effort is to get my form back,” he said on the Peshawar Zalmi’s YouTube channel as quoted by ARY News.

Azam has not been part of Pakistan’s T20I team recently, which led to him missing the three-match series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the tour of Bangladesh, the three-match series against the West Indies, and the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan.

He also didn’t feature in the 2025 Asia Cup, where the men in green made it to the final before losing to India by five wickets.

Azam is likely to return to action soon as he was included in Pakistan’s team for their upcoming Test series against South Africa.

The men in green will host South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs, which will take place from October 12 to November 8.

Pakistan squad for South Africa Test series: Shan Masood (captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Asif Afridi, Babar Azam, Faisal Akram, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Noman Ali, Rohail Nazir (wicketkeeper), Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel and Shaheen Shah Afridi
