Ravichandran Ashwin believes Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan is similar to India opener Abhishek Sharma in their shared approach of “attacking the bowlers right from the first ball”.
Farhan has been brilliant for the men in green lately as he has produced a number of magnificent batting performances in T20Is.
During the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, he amassed 63 runs in five matches at an average of 12.60 and a strike-rate of 150.
The 29-year-old had a much better showing in the 2025 Asia Cup as he was Pakistan’s top run-scorer with 217 runs in seven games, which included two fifties, at an average of 31 and a strike-rate of 116.04.
“Pakistan has exceptional talent. One such player is Sahibzada Farhan, who plays in a style similar to Abhishek Sharma, attacking the bowlers right from the first ball. This approach is highly encouraging,” Ashwin was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan managed to make it to the Asia Cup final, but fell short of winning the tournament as India beat them by five wickets.
The men in green will now host South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
The series is scheduled to be held from October 12 to November 8.
