Former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat wants to see spinner Sufiyan Muqeem get more chances in international cricket as he “provides different variations” when bowling.

Muqeem has been fabulous for Pakistan thus far as he has consistently picked up wickets by bamboozling batsmen.

During the tour of the West Indies, the 25-year-old took three wickets in three matches at an average of 19.66 and an economy rate of 4.91.

In the ODIs that followed, he finished with one wicket in one game at an average of 52.

After travelling to the West Indies, Pakistan took on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.

Muqeem featured in four matches and snapped up four wickets at an average of 27.75 and an economy rate of 8.02.

He then participated in the 2025 Asia Cup and ended up with two wickets in two games at an average of 18 and an economy rate of 6.17.

“Similarly if you look at Sufiyan Muqeem, he provides different variations, especially in [the] T20 format,” Arafat told PakPassion.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a home series against South Africa from October 12 to November 8.

The series will consist of two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
