Basit Ali: “You have no cricketing sense. You’re playing senseless cricket, just swinging for a six to look like a hero”

Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has slammed power-hitter Mohammad Haris for having “no cricketing sense” as he just swings “for a six to look like a hero”.
Haris’s aggressive approach has led to his dismissal on numerous occasions and is also a key factor behind his inconsistency in scoring runs.
Basit noted that the 24-year-old cannot keep throwing his wicket away, as he has a significant responsibility to fulfil as a member of the national team.
“You have no cricketing sense. You’re playing senseless cricket, just swinging for a six to look like a hero,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Haris recently played in the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, where he amassed 33 runs in five matches at an average of 6.60 and a strike-rate of 84.61.
The Peshawar-born batsman was then in action in the 2025 Asia Cup and finished with 131 runs in seven games, which included a top score of 66, at an average of 21.83 and a strike-rate of 133.67.
Pakistan reached the final of the tournament, but failed to get over the finish line as India beat them by five wickets.
Next up for the men in green will be a home series against South Africa, which will comprise two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
The series will be held from October 12 to November 8.
