Ahmed Shehzad: “Salman Ali Agha is a good player, but it is difficult for him to make a place in T20 cricket, yet he has been made the captain”

Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has questioned why Salman Ali Agha is captaining the T20I team, saying “it is difficult for him to make a place” in the side.
Salman replaced Mohammad Rizwan in the leadership role and has done well in the middle order.
During the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, he made 109 runs in five games, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 27.25 and a strike-rate of 118.47.
However, Salman endured a torrid time with the bat during the 2025 Asia Cup as he only managed to score 72 runs in seven games at an average of 12 and a strike-rate of 80.89.
Shehzad made it clear that Salman “is a good player”, but feels he doesn’t belong in the T20I team.
“Salman Ali Agha is a good player, but it is difficult for him to make a place in T20 cricket, yet he has been made the captain,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan made it to the final in the Asia Cup, but failed to be crowned champions as they lost to India by five wickets.
Next up for the men in green will be a home series against South Africa that will consist of two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
The series will be held from October 12 to November 8.
