Former India batsman Wasim Jaffer has praised Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, calling him “an intelligent cricketer”.

He also commended Salman’s contributions with both bat and ball, describing him as a “competent all-rounder.”

Jaffer added he values the 31-year-old’s approach to leadership, recognising a clear commitment to playing proactive and positive T20 cricket.

“They look like a fresh unit under Salman Ali Agha, their new captain. He’s a competent all-rounder, batting in the middle order and also contributing as an off-spinner. He is an intelligent cricketer, and there is a clear intent to play positive T20 cricket – that’s how the format should be approached,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

Salman recently featured in the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which Pakistan won.

In five matches, he scored 109 runs, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 27.25 and a strike-rate of 118.47.

The Lahore native then led the men in green in the 2025 Asia Cup, where he struck 72 runs in seven games at an average of 12 and a strike-rate of 80.89.

He also took one wicket at an average of 14 and an economy rate of seven.

Pakistan made it to the Asia Cup final under Salman’s leadership, but they failed to win the tournament as India beat them by five wickets.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a home series against South Africa, which will comprise two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.

The series will be played from October 12 to November 8.
