Fast bowler Aamer Jamal is seeking clarity about his future in international cricket and has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its complete lack of communication with him.

He noted that if he is not going to be considered for selection going forward, he needs to know about it.

Jamal added that he is fully fit at the moment and has been working on ensuring he is in good rhythm when bowling.

The 29-year-old has featured in eight Tests, three ODIs and six T20Is to date, but his last match for Pakistan came in January 2025.

“So far, I haven’t had any conversation with anyone regarding my role in future plans. I need clarity as well – if I am not being considered in any format, let’s be honest about it,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

“If you don’t want me to be part of the team, whatever the reasons are, that’s fine. I have been out only due to injury, but I have fully recovered and proven my fitness – I am 100% fit. I have been bowling with full rhythm and maintaining my workload perfectly.

“If there’s a plan, just tell me straight away. If I am only needed for one format, I don’t mind because playing for Pakistan is always an honor, in any format.

“I’m not blaming anyone, but I wish they had communicated clearly. If they wanted me to be rested or not considered for certain matches to try a different combination, they could have asked me directly. That would have been fine.

“As a player, when you are actively playing, these things bother you if there’s no communication. But in management, the first thing should be to address these issues so that players are not left in the dark. I still don’t understand the reason behind this communication gap, and I hope these matters get resolved as soon as possible.”

Having not played any international cricket since the beginning of the year, Jamal missed Pakistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, the white-ball tour of the West Indies, and the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan.

Pakistan are now playing in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is taking place in the UAE.

They beat Oman and the UAE in the group stage, while also losing to India.

Having progressed to the Super Four, the men in green started off with another defeat to India before bouncing back to defeat Sri Lanka by five wickets.

Pakistan’s next game will be against Bangladesh on September 25 in Dubai.
