Pakistan opening batsman Saim Ayub believes cricket becomes easier when he stays fearless.
Ayub is one of the brightest prospects in international cricket and has produced a number of awe-inspiring performances since making his debut in 2023.
Despite having had success at the highest level of the game, the 23-year-old wants to keep improving and is currently working on waiting for poor deliveries that he can dispatch to the boundary.
“You just have to wait for the bad balls and play according to the pitch. I’m working on that with the coach, trying to improve every day. It’s difficult at times, but if you stay fearless, the game becomes easier,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ayub recently featured in Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which the men in green won.
In five matches, he made 111 runs, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 22.20 and a strike-rate of 132.14.
The Karachi native is now taking part in the 2025 Asia Cup and has scored 23 runs in five games at an average of 4.60 and a strike-rate of 95.83.
Pakistan beat Oman and the UAE in the group stage, but also lost to India.
They were defeated by India once again in the Super Four, but bounced back to take down Sri Lanka by five wickets.
Next up for the men in green will be a clash against Bangladesh on September 25 in Dubai.
