Mohammad Rizwan: “Hasan Nawaz has been performing for some time and has won games for Pakistan”

ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan has praised big-hitter Hasan Nawaz, saying he has “won games for Pakistan”.
Nawaz has become a major part of the T20I squad and has also been getting chances in ODIs too, indicating that the men in green have big plans for him.
So far, the 23-year-0ld has shown a great amount of potential as he has produced a number of outstanding knocks.
During the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, he smashed 121 runs at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.
The men in green then toured Bangladesh for three T20Is and Nawaz ended up making 33 runs at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 122.22.
He enjoyed more success during the limited overs tour of the West Indies, starting off with 79 runs in three T20Is at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 164.58.
The Islamabad native then made his ODI debut and struck 112 runs in three matches, which included a career-best knock of 63 not out, at an average of 112.
Following their trip to the West Indies, Pakistan took on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.
In five matches, Nawaz amassed 93 runs, which included a top score of 56, at an average of 18.60 and a strike-rate of 143.07.
Rizwan noted that the talented youngster “has been performing for some time” and will be expected to continue doing so in the future.
“Hasan Nawaz has been performing for some time and has won games for Pakistan,” he said in a video on the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) YouTube channel as quoted by ARY News.
Pakistan are now featuring in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being held in the UAE.
In the three games he has played so far, Nawaz has mustered 17 runs at an average of 5.66 and a strike-rate of 65.38.
The men in green started their Asia Cup campaign with a 93-run win over Oman before losing to India by seven wickets.
Despite the loss to their arch-rivals, they managed to make it to the Super Four with a 41-run win over the UAE.
So far in the Super Four, Pakistan have lost to India and beaten Sri Lanka.
They will look to secure another victory when they take on Bangladesh on September 25 in Dubai.
