Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha has applauded spinner Mohammad Nawaz for “doing so well” despite being made to bowl the “difficult overs” in a match.

Nawaz has enjoyed a superb comeback to the national team as he has been contributing with the ball and the bat as well.

During the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, the 31-year-old took 10 wickets in five matches, which included a career-best five-wicket haul, at an average of 11.70 and an economy rate of 6.88.

He also scored 120 runs at an average of 30 and a strike-rate of 133.33.

Salman knows how difficult it is to bowl certain overs of a game, but praised Nawaz for standing up and delivering on a consistent basis.

“He always bowls [the] difficult overs. It is not easy for a finger spinner and he is doing so well,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Pakistan are now playing in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is taking place in the UAE.

So far, Nawaz has claimed one wicket in five games at an average of 67 and an economy rate of 8.37.

Batting-wise, he has amassed 82 runs at an average of 20.50 and a strike-rate of 138.98.

The men in green beat Oman and the UAE in the group stage, but lost to India as well.

They suffered another defeat against India in the Super Four stage before going on to take down Sri Lanka by five wickets.

Pakistan’s next match will be against Bangladesh on September 25 in Dubai.
