Hussain Talat: “Now I don’t read comments on social media. Even if you look at other players, there is a lot of unnecessary criticism. Anyone can comment on your profiles and your family also sees that. That’s sad”

Pakistan batsman Hussain Talat believes there is a lot of “unnecessary criticism” being directed towards players by fans.
He noted that given how much negativity can come his way when he fails to perform, he no no longer reads comments left on his social media accounts.
On top of this, the 29-year-old finds it interesting how the same people who once praised him are so quick to lambast him when he fails to live up to expectations or when Pakistan lose matches.
“Now I don’t read comments on social media. Even if you look at other players, there is a lot of unnecessary criticism. Anyone can comment on your profiles and your family also sees that. That’s sad. Earlier, I used to notice that when I performed well, there were praises but when my performance dipped, the same people were commenting on such things that would stay in your mind for months. I think as a nation we need to work on this,” Talat was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Talat recently played for Pakistan in their three-match ODI series against the West Indies and made 73 runs at an average of 36.50.
After their tour of the West Indies, the men in green took on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.
They are now playing in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is taking place in the UAE.
Pakistan have won two matches – against Oman and the UAE – and lost one, which came against India.
Having advanced to the Super Four, the men in green will be looking for revenge when they go up against India again on September 21 in Dubai.
