Basit Ali: “The way Babar Azam is practicing and working hard, you will see a different Babar Azam in T20Is whenever he returns”

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali believes people will see “a different Babar Azam in T20Is” when the star batsman returns to the national team.
Azam hasn’t been picked for Pakistan’s last few T20I assignments, likely due to the fact that he has been out of form and consistently criticised for batting too slow.
However, Basit noted that given the way the 30-year-old “is practicing and working hard”, he expects the Lahore native to be a completely different player in T20Is going forward.
“The way Babar Azam is practicing and working hard, you will see a different Babar Azam in T20Is whenever he returns,” Basit was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam missed Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the T20I series against the West Indies.
He also didn’t feature in the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which the men in green won.
Pakistan are now involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, but Azam once again failed to make the cut.
The men in green began with a 93-run win over Oman before losing to India by seven wickets.
Their next match will be against the UAE on September 17 in Dubai.
