
Hasan Ali: “Legendary players like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root praise his batting”

Pakistan speedster Hasan Ali said Babar Azam is such a great cricketer than icons like India’s Virat Kohli, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, Australia’s Steve Smith, and England’s Joe Root “praise his batting”.
Azam has long been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer across all three formats and has delivered many match-winning performances as well.
Even though he is going through a rough patch right now, Hasan noted that being praised by some of the greats of the game show that the 30-year-old is very well respected.
“Legendary players like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root praise his batting,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Azam was recently in action in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he captained the Peshawar Zalmi and made 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
After PSL 10, he was overlooked for Pakistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the three-match T20I series against the West Indies.
The Lahore native did end up featuring in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies in Trinidad and amassed 56 runs at an average of 18.66.
After the West Indies tour, Pakistan played a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which they ended up winning.
The men in green are now taking part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being held in the UAE.
