Pakistan power-hitter Hasan Nawaz has thanked T20I captain Salman Ali Agha for supporting him “in every possible way”.
Nawaz has become one of the newest stars of Pakistan cricket as he has showcased his exceptional batting capabilities in limited overs cricket.
The 23-year-old also acknowledged that it feels surreal to be sharing the dressing room with other stars like left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi and spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan, who is also the T20I vice-captain.
“Sharing the dressing room with stars like Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan and Salman Agha has been an extraordinary experience. Salman treated me like an elder brother and supported me in every possible way,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Nawaz recently featured in Pakistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and scored 121 runs at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.
The men in green then toured Bangladesh and he struck 33 runs in three T20Is at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 122.22.
Next up was Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies and Nawaz kicked things off with 79 runs in three T20Is at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 164.58.
The Islamabad native went on to make his ODI debut against the West Indies and made 112 runs in three matches, which included a career-best knock of 63 not out, at an average of 112.
Afterwards, Pakistan took on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.
In five matches, Nawaz amassed 93 runs, which included a top score of 56, at an average of 18.60 and a strike-rate of 143.07.
Pakistan are now taking part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being held in the UAE.
