Former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Khan said “many worthy players were wasted” due to the groups that formed within the national team.

Sohail is not the first ex-player to talk about cricketers forming their own little cadres and ruining the team for others.

He wants this behaviour to stop and believes that those selected to represent their country should be chosen based on merit and not prevented from playing international cricket.

“Grouping in the Pakistan team is… reality. I have been hunting these groups and many worthy players were wasted due to these groups,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Pakistan team recently played a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, which they won 3-0.

They then went to Bangladesh to play three T20Is, but ended up losing the series 2-1.

As for their limited overs tour of the West Indies, Pakistan won the T20Is 2-1 but lost the ODIs 2-1.

Most recently, the men in green were in action in a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which they won.

Pakistan are now featuring in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being held in the UAE.
