Interim Pakistan red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood has insisted there are no doubts about left-arm seamer Mir Hamza “being an excellent bowler”.

Hamza has been used sporadically by Pakistan in Test cricket since the men in green have plenty of pace options.

The 32-year-old has featured in seven Tests to date and taken 14 wickets at an average of 45.14.

Despite his inconsistent opportunities, Mahmood made it clear that no one is denying Hamza’s quality.

“There [are] no two opinions regarding Mir Hamza being an excellent bowler,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

Hamza has not been involved in Pakistan’s last few assignments, which include a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, a T20I tour of Bangladesh, and a limited overs tour of the West Indies.

He also didn’t take part in the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which Pakistan won.

The men in green will be back in action very soon as they will participate in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
