Wasim Akram: “If I have to name one from Pakistani bowlers, it was Aaqib Javed. He was really good and he was underrated”

Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram named fellow speedster Aaqib Javed as the most underrated bowler from his era.
Aaqib, who is Pakistan’s Director of High-Performance, featured in 22 Tests and took 54 wickets at an average of 34.70.
He also represented his country in 163 ODIs and claimed 182 wickets at an average of 31.43.
“If I have to name one from Pakistani bowlers, it was Aaqib Javed. He was really good and he was underrated,” Wasim told Stick to Cricket.
The Pakistan team recently played a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, which they won 3-0.
They then travelled to Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series, but failed to replicate their success as they were beaten 2-1.
Afterwards, the men in green toured the West Indies and came away with mixed results as they won the T20I series 2-1 but lost the ODIs 2-1.
As for the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, Pakistan had a lot more success as they ended up winning the tournament.
Next up for them will be the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
