Former West Indies pace bowler Ian Bishop said batsmen should guard their stumps when facing Pakistan left-arm speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Afridi is renowned for his ability to clean bowl batsmen as he swings the ball both ways and has an incredible yorker in his arsenal.
Bishop noted that Australia left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc is right up there with Afridi when it comes to hitting the stumps when bowling.
“It is well known with Mitchell Starc and Shaheen Shah Afridi at his best, watch and guard your stumps,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Afridi missed Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and the subsequent tour of Bangladesh, which consisted of three T20Is.
The 25-year-old returned to feature in the limited overs tour of the West Indies and began with two wickets in two T20Is at an average of 29 and an economy rate of 7.25.
In the three-match ODI series, Afridi continued to do well, claiming four wickets in two games at an average of 21.50.
As for the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, he finished with four wickets in four matches at an average of 19.50 and an economy rate of 5.57.
Afridi will return to action very soon as Pakistan will take part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
