Senior Pakistan cricketer Fawad Alam believes batsman Babar Azam feels pressure when facing left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir.

Fawad noticed this during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where Azam captained the Peshawar Zalmi and Amir represented the Quetta Gladiators.

He pointed out that Amir “knew exactly how to get Azam out”. This observation comes at a time of great difficulty for Azam, who has struggled to score runs consistently for many months.

“Mohammad Amir knew exactly how to get Babar Azam out, and you can clearly see the pressure Babar feels when facing him,” Fawad was quoted as saying by A Sports.

In PSL 10, Azam scored 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

As for Amir, he took 13 wickets in nine matches at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 7.79.

Following PSL 10, Azam was not picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the T20I series against the West Indies.

He did make the cut for the ODI series against the West Indies and mustered 56 runs at an average of 18.66.

After touring the West Indies, Pakistan played a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which they won.

Next up for the men in green will be the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
