Pakistan batsman Hasan Nawaz has admitted that he plays better under pressure, which is why he puts up strong performances in tough situations.

Nawaz has become the new big thing in Pakistan cricket after dominating at the domestic level and showcasing his big-hitting capabilities while playing international cricket.

The 23-year-old garnered significant attention during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) after finishing as the third-highest run-scorer with 399 runs in 12 matches for the Quetta Gladiators, which included a century and three fifties, at an average of 57 and a strike-rate of 162.19.

After an amazing campaign in PSL 10, Nawaz was involved in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and made 121 runs at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.

He then toured Bangladesh with the men in green and mustered 33 runs in three T20Is at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 122.22.

“I actually play better under pressure, and that is why my performance remains strong,” the Islamabad-born batsman said on the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) podcast as quoted by Geo Super.

After back-to-back series against Bangladesh, Pakistan toured the West Indies and Nawaz put on a show in the three-match T20I series, amassing 79 runs at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 164.58.

He then proceeded to make his ODI debut and scored 112 runs in three matches, which included a career-best 63 not out, at an average of 112.
