Pakistan Director of High-Performance Aaqib Javed said fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jnr is getting his rhythm back after recovering from a side strain.

The 23-year-old has been out of action for quite some time, but has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

“Wasim Jnr has also returned to rhythm,” Aaqib was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Wasim did feature in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he took 10 wickets in eight matches for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 20.80 and an economy rate of 7.38.

After that, he did not take part in Pakistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the limited overs tour of the West Indies.

Having recovered, the North Waziristan native has been selected for Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will take place from August 29 to September 7.

He also made the cut for the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
