Ali Raza: “If a cricketer like Ian Bishop praises me, it’s an honour. I’m also trying to prove that Ian Bishop’s praise is justified”

Pakistan pace bowler Ali Raza is determined to prove why former West Indies speedster Ian Bishop’s praise was justified.
Bishop has, on numerous occasions, lauded the 17-year-old, saying Pakistan should “encourage him and foster his growth”.
Raza has shown immense potential thus far and recently played in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he took 12 wickets in nine matches for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 25.25 and an economy rate of 9.18.
“If a cricketer like Ian Bishop praises me, it’s an honour. I’m also trying to prove that Ian Bishop’s praise is justified,” the teenage pace sensation was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
After PSL 10, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in Lahore which they won 3-0.
They then embarked on a T20I tour of Bangladesh, but failed to come away with a series win as they were defeated 2-1.
Following back-to-back series against Bangladesh, Pakistan toured the West Indies and began by playing three T20Is, which they won 2-1.
As for the ODI series, they ended up losing 2-1.
Next up for the men in green will be a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will be held from August 29 to September 7.
Following this, Pakistan will take part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
