Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood admitted pace bowler Aamer Jamal “offers something with both bat and ball”.

Jamal has been in and out of the national team, but has shown flashes of brilliance from time to time.

The 29-year-old made a stellar start to his Test career during the three-Test series against Australia from December 2023 to January 2024 as he took 18 wickets at an average of 20.44.

In addition to wreaking havoc with the ball, the Mianwali native also made 143 runs, which included a career-best knock of 82, at an average of 28.60.

“We lost Aamer Jamal who offers something with both bat and ball,” Masood was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Recently, Jamal played for the Karachi Kings in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and claimed five wickets in seven matches at an average of 39.40 and an economy rate of 10.94.

Batting-wise, he finished with 25 runs at an average of 8.33 and a strike-rate of 108.69.

After the PSL, the Mianwali native was left out of Pakistan’s squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore.

He also missed the tour of Bangladesh, which consisted of three T20Is.

It was the same story for Jamal for the tour of the West Indies, where Pakistan won the T20I series 2-1 but lost the ODIs 2-1.
