Danish Kaneria: “Shaheen (Shah Afridi) who used to bowl at 150kph is not doing that now”

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria said left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi is bowling slower now as he is no longer hitting speeds of 150 kph.
Many former players have noticed a drop in Afridi’s pace, especially after he suffered back-to-back knee injuries in 2022.
While the 25-year-old has worked hard to bring his bowling speed back up, Kaneria pointed out it is still not as quick as it once was.
“Shaheen (Shah Afridi) who used to bowl at 150kph is not doing that now,” Kaneria told PTI Video as quoted by NDTV.
Afridi recently captained the Lahore Qalandars in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and finished as the highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.42 and an economy rate of 7.76.
Even though he dominated, Afridi was overlooked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and the subsequent T20I tour of Bangladesh.
However, he ended up making his T20I return during the tour of the West Indies and snapped up two wickets in two games at an average of 29 and an economy rate of 7.25.
Afridi continued to impress in the ODI series as he claimed four wickets in two matches at an average of 21.50.
