Shaheen Shah Afridi: “I think he’s the only batter who consistently scores runs, and we all expect him to keep performing with the same flow. He’s a big name in the cricket world”

Pakistan left-arm pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi thinks Babar Azam is “the only batter who consistently scores runs”.
His comments came after Azam was signed by the Sydney Sixers for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL).
Afridi, meanwhile, was selected first in the BBL 15 draft by the Brisbane Heat.
The 25-year-old acknowledged that Azam is a “top performer”, which is why he is “a big name in the cricket world”.
“You know he performs around the world, he’s a top performer. People love him, and he delivers on big international stages. I think he’s the only batter who consistently scores runs, and we all expect him to keep performing with the same flow. He’s a big name in the cricket world,” he was quoted as saying by Samaa TV.
Azam recently featured in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he accumulated 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
Despite doing well, the selectors chose not to select him for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore.
It was the same story for Azam when Pakistan toured Bangladesh for another three-match T20I series.
Following this, the men in green took on the West Indies, but Azam was once again left out of the T20I team.
However, he did take part in the three-match ODI series in Trinidad and made 56 runs at an average of 18.66.
