Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali has expressed his desire to play in the 2026 T20 World Cup, but knows he faces a tough task in cementing a spot in the team.

Hasan has returned to the national team and acknowledged that every opportunity he gets is a chance for him to convince the selectors that he should be part of the World Cup side.

The 31-year-old’s road back to the Pakistan squad has been a long one, but his outstanding performances at the domestic level simply couldn’t be ignored by the selectors any longer.

In the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Hasan was on fire with the ball as he was the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in 10 matches for the Karachi Kings at an average of 20.47 and an economy rate of 9.03.

Afterwards, he claimed eight wickets, which included a career-best five-wicket haul, in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh at an average of 11.12 and an economy rate of 9.53.

“If you ask me, I want to play for Pakistan in the World Cup and win it for my country. For me, every match is now an opportunity, and I will give my 100 percent,” Hasan said on the Pakistan Cricket Board’s podcast as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

The Gujranwala native missed Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh, which consisted of three T20Is, as he was representing the Birmingham Bears in the Vitality Blast.

He returned for the ongoing tour of the West Indies and snapped up one wicket in two games at an average of 86 and an economy rate of 12.28.

Pakistan are now facing the West Indies in a three-match ODI series and Hasan has snapped up two wickets in one game at an average of 17.50.

The series is tied at 1-1 heading into the 3rd ODI on August 12 in Trinidad.
