Pakistan seamer Haris Rauf: “I’m many times asked about red-ball cricket. Who doesn’t want to play red-ball cricket?”

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf revealed that he has been asked about playing Test cricket many times.
Rauf has only featured in one Test, which came against England in December 2022.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the 31-year-old’s commitment to Test cricket, especially after he allegedly refused to feature in Pakistan’s Test series against Australia from December 2023 to January 2024.
However, the Rawalpindi native has made it abundantly clear that he is still keen to play red-ball cricket.
He also hit back at those criticising him for not playing enough domestic cricket, stating he is unable to since he is consistently representing his country in ODIs and T20Is.
“I’m many times asked about red-ball cricket. Who doesn’t want to play red-ball cricket? However no one understands that I’m a regular member of [the] white-ball squads of Pakistan. How can I play domestic cricket while featuring in white-ball cricket for Pakistan?” Rauf was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rauf was recently involved in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and finished as the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in 13 matches for the Lahore Qalandars at an average of 25.70 and an economy rate of 10.28.
He then proceeded to pick up one wicket in two T20Is against Bangladesh at an average of 59 and an economy rate of 11.80.
The men in green then toured Bangladesh for three T20Is, but Rauf did not feature in the series.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
In the T20I series, Rauf snapped up one wicket in two games at an average of 75 and an economy rate of 9.37.
As for the ongoing ODI series, Pakistan hold a 1-0 lead after winning the first match by five wickets.
The 2nd ODI will be held on August 10 in Trinidad.
