Ramiz Raja: “Haris would certainly face some failures in the future because of the way he plays ramp shots and tries to improvise a lot”

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja knows big-hitting batsman Mohammad Haris will “certain face some failures in the future” due to the style of cricket he plays.
Haris is a very aggressive player and since he tries to “improve a lot”, Ramiz sees some struggles ahead for him.
He added that the 24-year-old needs to “work on his down-the-ground shots” in order to become a better batsman.
However, it is not all doom and gloom for the Peshawar native as Ramiz feels Haris will develop a better understanding of building an innings if he “spends more time at the crease”.
“Haris would certainly face some failures in the future because of the way he plays ramp shots and tries to improvise a lot. I still believe he needs to work on his down-the-ground shots and this requires refinement. Only when Haris spends more time at the crease, he will understand batting better,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.
Haris recently played for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and accumulated 247 runs in 10 matches, which included a top score of 87, at an average of 27.44 and a strike-rate of 148.79.
He then featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and amassed 179 runs, which included a career-best knock of 107 not out, at an average of 89.50 and a strike-rate of 201.12.
Following this, the men in green travelled to Bangladesh to play three T20Is, but Haris wasn’t able to have the same kind of impact as he was limited to nine runs at an average of three and a strike-rate of 50.
Pakistan are currently touring the West Indies and in the T20I series, Haris finished with 12 runs in three games at an average of six and a strike-rate of 133.33.
A three-match ODI series is now going on and Pakistan hold a 1-0 lead after securing a five-wicket win in the first match.
The 2nd ODI will take place on August 10 in Trinidad.
