
Pakistan batsman Hasan Nawaz: “I’ve opened all my life, but I’m happy to contribute in the middle order as well”

Pakistan power-hitter Hasan Nawaz said he has opened the batting all his life, but is more than happy to continue playing in the middle order.
Nawaz has been moved up and down the batting order as of late, but hinted that he would prefer to play as an opener.
The 22-year-old has showcased his talent at the domestic level and in international career, where he has scored a century and a fifty in 14 T20Is.
“I’ve opened all my life, but I’m happy to contribute in the middle order as well,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
In the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Nawaz finished as the third-highest run-scorer with 399 runs in 12 matches for the Quetta Gladiators, which included a century and three fifties, at an average of 57 and a strike-rate of 162.19.
After PSL 10, he continued to impress in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh as he scored 121 runs at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.
His form took a bit of a hit during Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh as he could only muster 33 runs in three T20Is at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 122.22.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
In the T20I series, the Islamabad native amassed 79 runs at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 164.58.
Pakistan won the T20I series 2-1.
The ODI series will begin on August 9 in Trinidad.
Nawaz has been included in the ODI team, meaning he could make his debut in the 50-over format really soon.
