Pakistan big-hitting batsman Hasan Nawaz has admitted that he would prefer to open the batting in T20Is.

He noted that he has had good success at the top of the order, including scoring a T20I century against New Zealand in March 2025.

In Pakistan’s last two T20I series, both of which came against Bangladesh, the 22-year-old has dropped down to the number four spot.

Even though he did a score of 51 not out against Bangladesh in Lahore, Nawaz reiterated that he enjoys playing as an opening batsman.

“I would prefer to play as an opener in international cricket where I have also scored a T20 century as for Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

During the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Nawaz played at number four for the Quetta Gladiators and had an outstanding campaign as he was the third-highest run-scorer with 399 runs in 12 matches, which included a hundred and three half-centuries, at an average of 57 and a strike-rate of 162.19.

He then featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and made 121 runs at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.

The Islamabad native then toured Bangladesh with the men in green and struck 33 runs in three T20Is at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 122.22.

Next up for Pakistan will be a tour of the West Indies, which will consist of three T20Is and three ODIs from August 1 to 12.

Hasan was included in T20I squad, along with the ODI team, indicating that he could make his 50-over debut for Pakistan.
