Australia opening batsman David Warner said he admires the way Pakistan fast bowler Abbas Afridi utilises his variations if the ball is not swinging.
He added that Afridi is also very keen to continue learning as he “responds really well to feedback”.
Warner’s praise for the 24-year-old comes after he played alongside him while captaining the Karachi Kings in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Abbas ended PSL 10 as the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 23.52 and an economy rate of 10.25.
“What I admire about Abbas is his transparency. If it’s not swinging, he’s open to changing it up with variations, and he responds really well to feedback,” Warner was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Following PSL 10, Afridi featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and took two wickets in one game at an average of 13 and an economy rate of 6.50.
He then toured Bangladesh with the men in green for another three-match T20I series and ended up with three wickets at an average of 17.66 and an economy rate of 8.83.
Next up for Pakistan will be a tour of the West Indies, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs from August 1 to 12.
