David Willey: “Pakistan continues to produce quality fast bowlers, and Ubaid is another exciting prospect. He’s got great potential and hopefully he keeps learning and growing”

England speedster David Willey thinks Pakistan fast bowler Ubaid Shah is an “exciting prospect” who has “got great potential”.
Ubaid is the younger brother of Naseem Shah, who is one of Pakistan’s go-to pacers in all three formats of the game.
Recently, Willey got the chance to play alongside the 19-year-old for the Multan Sultans in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In nine matches, Ubaid took 12 wickets at an average of 26.75 and an economy rate of 10.29.
Having shown plenty of promise during PSL 10, Willey hopes Ubaid will continue “learning and growing” in order to become a better bowler.
“Pakistan continues to produce quality fast bowlers, and Ubaid is another exciting prospect. He’s got great potential and hopefully he keeps learning and growing,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in Lahore and triumphed 3-0.
They then toured Bangladesh for three T20Is and were beaten 2-1.
Next up for Pakistan will be a limited overs tour of the West Indies, which will comprise three T20Is and three ODIs that will be held from August 1 to 12.
