Veteran Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad wanted wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah Khan to get more opportunities during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he might have made a name for himself.
Haseebullah is one of the bright young prospects in the country, but has seen sporadic game time – whether it be in the PSL or for the Pakistan team.
In PSL 10, he only played one game for the Quetta Gladiators and scored seven runs.
Given the talent the 22-year-old possesses, it prompted Shehzad to question why the Pishin native was not utilised more.
“Haseebullah Khan is now part of the Quetta squad. In the past, the management often said that Quetta didn’t have players of PSL standard, but now that Haseebullah is here, he should be given a chance. You never know, he might make a name for himself,” he was quoted as saying by ARY News.
Haseebullah has played one ODI and three T20Is to date, but was not picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, which the men in green won 3-0.
He was also left out of the squad for Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh, where they lost the T20I series 2-1.
The men in green will now travel to the West Indies to play three T20Is and three ODIs from August 1 to 12.
