Former speedster Tanvir Ahmed has doubts about whether Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf are Pakistan’s “top-class fast bowlers” given the amount of runs they conceded at times during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Afridi captained the Lahore Qalandars in the tournament, while Rauf played for the same franchise.
Both of them played an instrumental role in leading the Qalandars to the title as Afridi was the highest wicket-taker in PSL 10 with 19 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.42 and an economy rate of 7.76.
As for Rauf, he was the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in 13 games at an average of 25.70 and an economy rate of 10.28.
Even though they got plenty of breakthroughs, Tanvir was shocked that they leaked so many runs.
“I cannot comprehend the fact that they are Pakistan’s top-class fast bowlers,” he was quoted as saying by ARY News.
After PSL 10, Rauf featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and picked up one wicket in two games at an average of 59 and an economy rate of 11.80.
Afridi, meanwhile, wasn’t picked for the series, which the men in green won 3-0.
Following this, both of them were left out of the team for Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh, where they lost the T20I series 2-1.
However, Afridi and Rauf will be back in action during Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies, which will consist of three T20Is and three ODIs that will be played from August 1 to 12.
