Mohammad Rizwan: “I don’t believe in strike-rate! I believe in giving your all the efforts for the team and I assure our players of [the] Pakistan cricket team give their best”

Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in strike-rates.
His comments come after he was heavily criticised in the past for batting too slow when he used to open in T20Is.
Rizwan has not been selected for Pakistan’s last few T20I assignments, but did captain the Multan Sultans in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In the 10 matches he played, the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 367 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 52.42 and a strike-rate of 139.54.
“I don’t believe in strike-rate! I believe in giving your all the efforts for the team and I assure our players of [the] Pakistan cricket team give their best,” the 33-year-old from Peshawar was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Even though he batted superbly in PSL 10, Rizwan was overlooked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which the men in green won 3-0.
Pakistan then embarked on a tour of Bangladesh, which Rizwan wasn’t picked for as well, and lost the T20I series 2-1.
