Pakistan middle order batsman Saud Shakeel has revealed his intense training regimen, saying he faces 600 to 1,000 balls every day.
Shakeel, who has become an integral part of Pakistan’s Test squad in particular, noted that he enjoys this routine as it is “extremely beneficial”.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed great success in Test cricket thus far, scoring 1,658 runs in 19 matches, which includes four centuries and nine fifties, at an average of 50.24.
Recently, he captained the Quetta Gladiators in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and amassed 237 runs in 12 games, which included a top score of 59, at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 117.32.
“Everyone has their own practice routine, but I try to train in a way that is effective and brings improvement. I love batting and spend a lot of time doing it. No matter the format, I practice intensely,” Shakeel told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as quoted by Geo Super.
“I face 600 to 1,000 balls every day and I have found that this routine is extremely beneficial.”
After PSL 10, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Shakeel was not part of the team that won the series 3-0.
The men in green are now touring Bangladesh for another three-match T20I series, but find themselves 2-0 down heading into the 3rd T20I on July 24 in Mirpur.
