Shaheen Shah Afridi: “Happy for Asif Afridi as well, he is a brilliant bowler”

Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi has praised left-arm spinner Asif Afridi, calling him a “brilliant bowler”.
Asif has been exceptional in domestic cricket as he averages 25.49 with the ball in first-class cricket, 29.81 in List A cricket, and 23.20 in T20s.
Recently, he played for the Lahore Qalandars in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is the team Shaheen captained.
The 38-year-old had a solid campaign as he picked up seven wickets in nine games at an average of 24.71 and an economy rate of 7.41.
“Happy for Asif Afridi as well, he is a brilliant bowler,” Shaheen was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Shaheen also did well in PSL 10 and played a key role in leading the Qalandars to the title as he was the highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 13 games at an average of 16.42 and an economy rate of 7.76.
Following the PSL, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but neither Shaheen nor Asif were picked in the squad.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
Next up for Pakistan will be a tour of Bangladesh, where they will play three T20Is in Mirpur from July 20 to 24.
