
Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan: “I want to lead from the front as a senior. I have to show the youngsters how to play here and I have to impress the youngsters”

Pakistan spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan said he wants to “impress the youngsters” in the team by leading from the front.
Shadab was appointed as Pakistan’s T20I vice-captain prior to Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand and knows there will be extra pressure on him to perform.
During the five-match T20I series against the Black Caps, he took one wicket at an average of 143 and an economy rate of 11.
He also struck 58 runs at an average of 14.50 and a strike-rate of 131.81.
“I want to lead from the front as a senior. I have to show the youngsters how to play here and I have to impress the youngsters,” the Mianwali native was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Most recently, Shadab captained Islamabad United in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and picked up 14 wickets in 10 games at an average of 16.57 and an economy rate of 7.90.
He also had a solid impact with the bat, accumulating 173 runs at an average of 24.71 and a strike-rate of 155.85.
After PSL 10, Shadab represented Pakistan in their three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and claimed four wickets at an average of 16.25 and an economy rate of 7.22.
He also scored 55 runs at an average of 27.50 and a strike-rate of 157.14.
Pakistan won the series 3-0.
Next up for the men in green will be a tour of Bangladesh, where they will play three T20Is in Mirpur from July 20 to 24.
