Veteran cricketer Sohaib Maqsood has told batsman Babar Azam he is “Pakistan’s biggest cricket star” and has nothing to prove to anyone.

Azam is currently trying to break out of a rough patch, which has been going on for months.

The 30-year-old has shown signs of getting better, especially in his last couple of assignments.

During the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, he accumulated 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.

He followed it up with 288 runs in 10 games for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

“You’re Pakistan’s biggest cricket star – you don’t need to prove anything,” Maqsood said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.

After PSL 10 finished, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was left out of the team.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
